I don't remember ever agreeing that I would allow for bylaws and zone changes on my street to support tourism. If tourism is vital for economic growth then allow for building of a couple of large hotels in areas designated for commercial activities or in a non-residential area rather than a bunch of SRAs. One large hotel could basically accommodate all visitors to the area. I hear no one complaining about the Princess Hotel or any of the other hotels so let's encourage more of such development. Additionally commercial hotels are usually ran by trained professionals and have quarters available inside the premise for employees.

When did we agree that unbridled Tourism was the only solution for economic development in Tobermory?

I urge you to consider the number of family vacations who are specifically looking for COTTAGE RENTALS, especially in July and August, and most looking for a weekly stay. They do not want to be sardined into a hotel. If all NBP has to offer are hotels and motels, those tourists will vacation in another Ontario community and our municipality's primary source of revenue will plummet.
Chrissy, if we were talking about housing the homeless I would agree with you but this is not a "first world problem" . If you are concerned about giving families the cottage experience, buy a large chunk of land that is not already zoned residential and build the edifices you want. Or, canvas residences to give up their premises for a week or so to offer the experience.
...those tourists will vacation in another ONTARIO community... Great!
